Home - Treatments -in lays & on lays
If your tooth is too damaged to repair with a filling but not yet worn enough that it requires a full dental crown, your dentist may recommend an inlay or onlay instead.
Inlays and onlays are pre-fabricated restorations we can use to repair larger cavities. An inlay can fill a deep cavity in the centre of a tooth, whereas an onlay may be more appropriate when the damage extends across the corners or “cusps” of the tooth.
Whichever method your dentist recommends, the process is very similar. They will begin by administering a local anaesthetic and removing any decayed material with a small drill. Once the tooth is cleaned and disinfected, the dentist will take an impression of it, with which your inlay or onlay will be manufactured.
